Dhanush hasn't seen Sonam’s films

Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush are like chalk and cheese. TOI got the lead actors of director Aanand L Rai's Raanjhanaa, featuring music by AR Rahman, to explore their differences. Here's what the stars asked each other...

Sonam: When you learnt that I was doing the film, did you think, 'How is she going to play this role?' Dhanush: I haven't seen your films. I want Raanjhanaa to be your first film I watch. I didn't know what kind of work you're capable of. I thought you were a girl who dances with a pigeon on her head.

Sonam: You thought I'd come to shoot with a pigeon on my head? Dhanush: No, of course not. But that did make you very famous. Who's your favourite character in the film?

Sonam: Bindiya (played by Swara Bhaskar). I wish I could play her. I wish I could be her and love unconditionally. I'd love to love someone like that. Sorry, all the guys who thought I was in love with them. Dhanush: That's a headline.

Sonam: Do you think love, as an emotion, is overrated? Dhanush: It's not overrated. Love is the most beautiful emotion ever.

Sonam: I think love is the root of other emotions. It can even make a saint out of a sinner. When I love someone, I'd like to love like Meera loved Krishna. Back to our film... what did you find most difficult about Hindi? Dhanush: The letter H. I don't know where it should come and where it shouldn't. I can say individual words, but in flowing sentences, it's a bit difficult.

Raanjhanaa, produced by Eros International, releases on June 21.
