He was shooting for a Karan Johar film two years ago when he heard that his pet Labrador Tony had suddenly died. A disconsolate Imran Khan had asked for the day off to rush home and wasn't in the frame of mind to begin shooting for the next two days.
Those who have visited Imran Khan's Pali Hill home recently wouldn't have missed the huge picture of dog and master which occupies pride of place in the living room.
Just like Tony, who they had adopted after he was abandoned by it's owner, Imran and Avantika have given a home to as many as six cats and two more dogs - all strays or abandoned pets - but now they seem to be a little cramped for space.
The couple, along with Imran's mother Nuzhat, have gone ahead and bought a four-acre plot on the outskirts of the city where they plan to build a full fledged animal shelter.
The Khans will also be appointing a dedicated vet to take care of the strays there till they find a new home - so if you're looking to adopt a pet, you know who to call.
