In essence, ‘Alvida’ is a love song, a song that reflects the pain of two lovers. Arjun Rampal plays Rudra Pratap Singh. He is an undercover agent of Indian Armed Forces on a mission in Karachi. Shruti Haasan plays Suraiya, a scarred Pakistani woman, a prostitute with a clean heart.
As is evident in the song, the two fall in love. Rudra Pratap can’t let Suraiya in on his secrets. She trusts him blindly. He doesn’t want to break her trust. Bleeding and bruised, he comes to her. She gives him bath, nurses his wounds and shares his pain.
‘Alvida’ is more of a love song than a raunchy number. It’s soft, and soothing and has a catchy tune by Shankar Ehsaan Loy.
Shruti Haasan says about her role: “I won’t say (my role is) bold, but it’s a very sensual role and Arjun Rampal made me feel very comfortable. Arjun is a wonderful co-star to work with.”
Directed by Nikhil Advani, D-Day is the story of a secret Indian mission to bring the Most Wanted Man back to India from Karachi, Pakistan. The film stars Irrfan Khan, Huma Qureshi, and Rishi Kapoor, apart from Arjun and Shruti.
