Director Ram Gopal Varma, who gave deceased actress Jiah Khan her first Bollywood break in the 2007 film 'Nishabd', said that she had been 'very depressed about her career and scared for her future'.
The actress, who was 25 years old, committed suicide in her Mumbai flat on Monday night by hanging herself.
In a string of tweets following reports of her demise, Varma said, "The last time I met her jiah told me that everyone around her makes her feel like a failure... Inspite of being highly appreciated in Nishabd nd being a part of hugely successful Ghazni and Houseful she had no work for the last 3 years... I dont know the reason what led to this but jiah was very depressed about her career and scared for her future."
Jiah's last film was the Sajid Khan-directed movie 'Housefull' that released in 2010.
Jiah herself had tweeted on her personal Twitter account last month that she had been on a break. "Took a bit of a break from twitter verse.. sometimes u need a sabbatical to recollect ur thoughts," she had tweeted on May 24.
